French Montana has spoken about his late friend and fellow Coke Boy rapper Chinx and said that he would be one of the Top 5 MCs if he were still alive.
In 2015, a drive-by shooting in Queens, New York, claimed the life of Chinx (real name Lionel Pickens). He was 31. French remembered first meeting Chinx on the most recent episode of WE tv’s Hip Hop Homicides, which aired on Thanksgiving Day Thursday (November 24).
Chinx and I met in Yonkers. He used to visit the studio; he was incredibly modest and quiet, and he would just sit there and watch, French recalled to host Van Lathan. “Then his music started playing, and I thought, ‘Oh, he’s got something.'”
French Montana continued, “He had just come home from jail, he was trying to get into the music and he was serious,” before going on to describe what made Chinx (previously Chinx Drugs) special. The thing I had in common with him the most was his love of music. We used music as therapy.
French praised Chinx’s work ethic and stated that he “understood what it takes,” adding that he was excellent at “mixing his flows” and “knew how to adjust.”
French went on to say that he believes Chinx was a greater rapper than he was, before listing his friend as one of the hip-elite. hop’s He declared, “He was 10 times better than me.” “Because he noticed all of my errors. Like the better version, he was. Man, Chinx would be in the Top 5 if he were still alive.

The 2015 murder of Chinx resulted in the arrest of two gunmen. Chinx was allegedly slain by Quincy Homere and Jamar Hill in 2009 due to an argument that occurred while both men were detained at Rikers Island, according to New York Police lieutenant Richard Rudolph.
Homere and Hill were detained and charged with second-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in December 2017, more than two years after Chinx’s passing.
Chinx’s long-awaited posthumous project, Chinx Drugz 6, will be released next month.
Just two days before the late rapper’s 39th birthday, on December 2, his brand-new mixtape will be made available on streaming sites, according to Billboard.
High-profile performers such as Quavo and Offset from the Migos, Benny The Butcher from Griselda, and Chinx’s brother JFK WAXX will all be present at CD6. It will be Chinx’s first posthumous endeavor since Legends Never Die in 2016.
Chinx’s cameo appearance on French Montana’s upcoming mixtape Coke Boys 6: Money Heist Edition, the sixth in the acclaimed series that propelled Chinx to fame, is another reason why December is shaping up to be a wonderful month for Chinx fans.
